Great Dane Press - Through the Woods

This initial publication from Great Dane Press follows a mother and daughter as they walk the path through Quoteadolescence (literally over the course of eleven hikes on the Appalachian Trail.) No subject goes unmentioned, no stone unturned as this mother takes the controversial approach of full disclosure with her daughter. She gambles that knowledge will provide the best protection against the perils of adulthood, rejecting censorship in almost all cases.

Through the Woods speaks through two voices, reflecting the two separate journeys taking place along the trails. The daughter's (Holly) voice celebrates the exuberance and expectation that defines youth, while Liz tells a mother's tale even older than the hills they were hiking.

Tucked within the chapters is a third story, about a very physical separation as Holly stumbles upon a boarding school and finds herself compelled to explore this previously unknown possibility. And in a surprising twist, what they found in the end was that physical separation just strengthened the emotional bond between them.
